Provenance
Lot Note:This intimate portrait of K. Elmo Lowe, from Grey’s private collection, honors a figure of profound personal and artistic significance. Lowe, Grey’s acting teacher and mentor in Cleveland, was “responsible for me believing in myself,” Grey said. As artistic director of the Playhouse Theater, Lowe fostered a loving and supportive environment where Grey, at just 11 years old, delivered what he recalls as “some of my best work.” Though the photographer is unknown, the image carries deep emotional weight- Grey would later dedicate his memoir to Lowe, a lasting tribute to the man who helped shape his path.
